How you will make a difference to cats and people:

As fundraising Team Leader, you will play a key role in promoting the charity's cat welfare message whilst also generating income to support our work. the Fundraising Team Leader is responsible for raising funds for the branch and for co-ordinating the Fundraising Team. In addition, you will work closely with the Treasurer to ensure that all monies are collected and accounted for. A car is almost always essential

What the role involves:

  • To work alongside other volunteers to plan fundraising events and activities
  • To ensure there are sufficient volunteers to run the events and to organise a rota of volunteers to ensure that workload is spread fairly
  • To liaise with the Publicity Officer in order to advertise any forthcoming events
  • To attend committee meetings to provide information on fundraising activities
  • To ensure that the branch has adequate supplies of CP merchandise for sale at stalls
  • To ensure that the Branch has adequate supplies of fund-raising paraphernalia – collection boxes, banners, flag day stickers etc.
  • To co-ordinate and delegating key tasks prior to and at fundraising events
  • To be responsible for funds raised at events and ensuring they are passed to the Treasurer in a timely way
  • To maintain records from fundraising events
  • To ecourage others to promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection 
  • To ensure that CP stands present a professional image of the charity
  • To ensuring that fundraising events and activities comply with Cats Protection policy and guidelines and that local licences and permits are obtained prior to the event
  • To oversee the collection and storage of bric-a-brac
  • To organise with other volunteers the distribution and collection of money from collection boxes
  • You may wish to have seasonal sub-committee meetings per year with the Fundraisers in order to discuss plan and organise future fundraising events
  • To attend Committee meetings as required
  • Most of all you should have a passionf or giving cats a second chance in life
Skills and experience required or could be developed in this role:

  • Good organisational skills, imagination and enthusiasm
  • Good people skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks
  • Comfortable handling money
  • Knowledge of local community networks
Time expectation:
This is a flexible role and can be shared with another volunteer. The role is home based, but does need to be within the local area of South Wirral. The amount of time spent will vary depending on the type of fundraising activities at any given time. This will include a number of activities ranging from assisting at stalls and tin collections and other such events.  It may vary from very little to a morning, afternoon or evening, or a full day. Other behind the scenes planning and organising will be done from home at a time which suits you

Support and training provided:
Other Committee members and Fundraising Volunteers will provide you with day to day support, guidance and direction to ensure that you have a positive, enjoyable volunteering experience. Support is available from Headquarters Fundraising Department which provides a wide selection of guides, ideas and templates. Also of course from your team. CatNav (CP’s extranet website) provides a resource for sharing and developing ideas
